Imperial College, Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication

We provide part-time language, science introduction, and arts appreciation courses at lunchtime and in the evening that anyone can enrol on.

Overview

The Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication at Imperial College London offers a range of evening classes, taught by experienced tutors, for adults of all ages. The programme includes a variety of languages at various levels, also an expanding and impressive range of arts appreciation courses on subjects as diverse as Creative Writing, Photography, Introduction to Western European Art, Modern Art & Design, Introduction to Science, and Europe's 20th Century.

The Centre also runs a smaller programme of lunchtime courses called Lunchtime Learning. Courses available comprise 20 weekly sessions during the Autumn and Spring terms, and 10 weekly sessions in the Summer term, respectively.

Main Evening Class Programme

Courses available comprise 20 weekly sessions, 6-8pm, during the Autumn and Spring terms. All two-term courses begin in mid-October and resume for the second term at the beginning of January after a Christmas break. All classes are taught for two hours per week (40 contact hours).

Courses are open to all, and you do not need any special qualifications to apply, however prospective applicants for a language course unsure of their level of proficiency are strongly advised to contact the appropriate language advisor for assistance prior to enrolment. For contact details please see our website.

Online enrolment starts in early September.

Summer Evening Class Programme

In addition to the main programme, there is a separate early-summer programme which comprises twice-weekly sessions, also 6-8pm, over 8 weeks in May and June. The early-summer programme is smaller in size but more intensive and is ideal, for instance, for those wishing to acquire or brush up on language skills ahead of the summer holidays.

Online enrolment starts in early April.
