This course will help you to progress within a variety of sectors and in a number of job roles where an understanding of learning disabilities and knowledge of how to support people with learning disabilities is required.
The course covers principles of supporting individuals with learning disabilities, safeguarding and protection, personalisation care, positive risk taking, awareness of autistic spectrum conditions, accessing healthcare. This is delivered via distance learning.
Assessments will be marked by an allocated tutor who will provide you with detailed feedback. You will be assessed against criteria where all learning outcomes of the course have to be covered; your tutor will give you guidance for this.
On completion, you could progress to: Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Preparing to work in adult social care; Level 2 and 3 Diploma for the Children and young people’s workforce or Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. Relevant employment opportunities are available in the following fields: Healthcare; Social Care; Social work; Education and Voluntary.
