What will I learn?

The Health & Social Care - QCF Level 2 Diploma Course is suitable for students who are working, or are wanting to work as a care provider within the care sector.

Students will learn about the role of a health and social care worker, what is involved with safeguarding and protecting those in care, the causes and spread of infection, and the duty of care in health and social care environments. A work placement is required to complete this course. The placement needs to enable students to gather the workplace evidence required to demonstrate the range of competencies detailed in the course notes.

The course materials cover the following units:

Unit 1 - The role of the health & social care worker

Unit 2 - Introduction to communication in health and social care settings

Unit 3 - Support Individuals with specific communication needs

Unit 4 - Implement person centred approaches in health & social care

Unit 5 - Principles of safeguarding and protection in health & social care

Unit 6 - Support individuals to eat and drink

Unit 7 - The principles of infection prevention and control

Unit 8 - Causes & spread of infection

Unit 9 - Cleaning, decontamination and waste management

Unit 10 - Move & position individuals in accordance with their plan of care

Unit 11 - Support individuals to meet personal care needs

Unit 12 - Contribute to the support of positive risk-taking for individuals

Unit 13 - Handle information in health & social care settings

Unit 14 - Contribute to health and safety in health and social care

Unit 15 - Introduction to duty of care in health and social care settings

Unit 16 - Introduction to equality and inclusion in health & social care

Unit 17 - Introduction to personal development in health & social care settings

On successful completion on this course students will receive an accredited Level 2 QCF Diploma Qualification with 46 Credits.

What do I need to know?

A work placement of at least 50 hours is required to complete this course. The placement needs to be sufficient to enable students to gather the workplace evidence required to demonstrate the range of competencies set out in the course syllabus.
