What will I learn?

We match any other online provider's price.

The AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping is perfect if you've got some bookkeeping experience or have completed a Foundation/Level 2 Accountancy or Bookkeeping course.

The course will expand on your existing knowledge and enhance your financial skills, preparing you for more senior bookkeeping roles.

It covers accounting principles and concepts, preparing financial statements for sole traders and partnerships, indirect tax (known as VAT in the UK) issues in business, and advanced-level spreadsheet software. Throughout, you'll be given a firm grounding in professional bookkeeping ethics.

The course is accredited by AAT, the leading professional body for accounting technicians, so you'll get the same education online with us as you would in a traditional classroom - just without the hassle.

It's highly flexible, so you can set your own timetable and study at your own pace. Live online classrooms during lunchtimes, evenings, and weekends make it easy to fit learning around your life.

The AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping (AQ2016 Syllabus) is worth 28 UCAS credits. It sits on the Qualifications and Credit Framework at Level 3, or Level 6 in the Scottish system.

This course has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) value of 280 hours. The TQT is a measure of how long it will take to complete a qualification and includes the Guided Learning Hours as well as any unsupervised learning and time spent on independent research.

The course consists of three units:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Indirect Tax

What do I need to know?

"You don't need any prior experience or qualifications to enrol on this course. However, it's best suited to those who have some bookkeeping experience or have completed the Foundation Certificate (or the Level 2 Certificate, as it was known previously) in Bookkeeping or Accounting. You should be confident with numbers and have good attention to detail, as well as an interest in business and finance. You must be over 19, and if English isn't your first language, you'll need an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent."
