My name is Ron Hebbs.
In 1994 and 1995, I ran proofreading seminars in local hotels. However, due to various logistically-based problems, and indeed numerous requests from seminar enquirers, I developed an extensive Certification Proofreading Correspondence Course, based entirely on those seminars. The contents of the course are explained in full under the heading The Course.
I have had many years' experience in, and extensive knowledge of, the publishing industry and all its related areas, including
publishing house production departments
During the course, should you need to contact me for advice or guidance, you can do so by phone, letter or email. If by email, I will endeavour to reply within a couple of hours or sooner. If by phone, there will not be an assortment of tutors or switchboard operators to negotiate before you get through to me. Most of the time it will be me who answers the phone! I will even give you my personal mobile number as well. Please note this important fact: you can even phone me in the evening if you wish!
I wrote the course, I administer the course, I reply personally to any queries you may have, I assess the course modules (more of modules later), and, yes, I even proofread as well!
Oh, one more thing - the course is written in a very easy-going, informal writing style, rather like this website. I wrote both! I write as I speak - no hidden meanings or technical jargon. Everything is explained from the very basics upwards!
